Personalised Mother’s Day T-Shirt

With mother’s day coming up, why not create the perfect gift and make a personalized sweatshirt or t shirt

Items I Used:
Sweatshirt or t shirt
HTV – I have used the metallic collection in a silver and pink
Silhouette Curio and large cutting mat

Purchasing The Design & Importing

Having looked in the Silhouette design store, there were so many cute Mothers Day designs and slogans.

I have purchased 2 to have a go at, I have a sweatshirt and t shirt.

I then pull it into Silhouette studio from my library by double clicking on the file.

Sizing The Design

I then place my t shirt out on a flat surface and using a ruler, map out how big I want my design to be.

I am going to make it approx. 6” across.

So making sure that the padlock is closed, I have changed the width to 6”.

Setting Up The Design To Cut

As I am using 2 different colours of HTV, I am going to separate my design to cut out different sections in the different HTV.

To do this right click and ungroup the file.

Move out each section of the design onto a different part of the mat.

Placing Vinyl Onto The Mat

Looking at how you have set up the mat, place the vinyl to match the layout.

Please don’t forget that it will be mirrored when cutting, so reverse the vinyl.

**Please remember – place the HTV matte side facing up.

Cutting Out The HTV

Once you are happy with the vinyl and placement. Click on the SEND in silhouette studio.

Change material to show: Heat Transfer Vinyl – Metallic and change blade accordingly.

Then click SEND.

Once the cut is complete, weed the design.

Creating The Sweatshirt

Place the sweatshirt onto a ironing board and layout your design ready to heat it.

As it is not one whole piece, I have heated it onto the t shirt in 2 sections so I can make sure that each colour of HTV has stuck down.

And there you have your sweatshirt.

Repeat the steps to design your t shirt. I have used Mom Life design

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial.
There are loads of cutes “mom” theme files in the Design Store so I would love to see your personalized gifts.
